Established in 1934, Alumni Scholarships at UC Berkeley provide financial awards and personal and professional support to 800 students from across the United States each year. It is the largest program of its kind in the nation, engaging a network of 4,000 alumni volunteers to evaluate more than 10,000 applications and distribute nearly $2 million in awards.

Alumni Scholarships at UC Berkeley are composed of two programs: the Achievement Award, a need and achievement-based scholarship that brings students with challenging experiences and diverse backgrounds and perspectives to Berkeley and the Leadership Award, which is merit and leadership-based. Both programs reward students for contributions to their communities, and strive to cultivate future leaders by providing them financial access to the finest public university in the world.
More than 9,000 people have received Alumni Scholarships in the course of the program’s history, including legislators, Fortune 500 CEOs, NASA scientists, filmmakers and community leaders.
