The Department of Biomedical Informatics at the University of Utah (http://uuhsc.utah.edu/medinfo/) anticipates the opening of one National Library of Medicine postdoctoral position in August 2009. The position is available to individuals holding a PhD degree in Biomedical Informatics or related fields
(e.g., computer science, mathematics, physics, engineering, biology, or cognitive science) and having an interest in developing skills in biomedical informatics. This postdoctoral position is for one year with a second year possible upon satisfactory performance. The focus of the position will be on research under the supervision of a faculty mentor, but there is the potential of taking some informatics course work towards completing a certificate credential. Possible areas of research include: translational informatics, natural language processing, grid and parallel computing, personalized/genomic medicine clinical informatics, and public health informatics. Applicants should be US citizens or have permanent resident status.
