Bursaries: financial support offered by Queen Mary – University of London

In addition to the financial support described above which is provided by the Government, Queen Mary will offer its own financial support package in the form of bursaries to assist students with the cost of study.

Bursaries: Financial support offered by Queen Mary for students starting in the academic session 2010-2011

In 2006 Queen Mary introduced a package of bursaries to assist students who are in most need of financial support with the costs of being a student in higher education. Our Bursaries do not need to be repaid.

The amount of the Bursary you receive each year will depend on your household income which is assessed during your application for UK Government Financial Support.

Please note that all international students and those EU nationals who are only eligible for a tuition fee loan will not be eligible for a Queen Mary Bursary.

Queen Mary Bursaries for students starting in the 2010-2011 academic year
Queen Mary Bursaries only apply to students who are liable for the variable tuition fees of £3,290.

The table below shows the Bursary you may be eligible for in 2010-2011.

Assessed Household Income Queen Mary Bursary
£0 – £25,000 £1,100
£25,000 to £34,613 £878
More than £34,613 £0

Applying for the Bursary
To receive a Queen Mary Bursary you must have applied for income assessed UK Government Financial Support for Higher Education Students. When you do so, you will be asked to give your consent to your information being shared with the University you will join. If your sponsors/parents are submitting financial details about themselves as part of your application, they will also be asked to give their consent. It is important that this consent is given so that we can view these details to decide whether your assessed household income means you qualify for a Queen Mary Bursary.

You do not need to make a separate application for the Queen Mary Bursary.
