The position is available in the laboratory of Dr David Meek in the Biomedical Research Institute at Ninewells Hospital, Dundee, and is funded by Cancer Research UK. The main focus of our research is to study the function and regulation of the p53 pathway and the mechanisms by which p53 function is lost during the development of tumours. The following position is available for 36 months from October 2010.

We are looking for a Postdoctoral Research Assistant to study the regulation of p53 transcriptional function by multi-site phosphorylation. The project is aimed at understanding how phosphorylation regulates p53 activity in the physiological context of promoter function. The successful applicant will have experience in basic techniques of molecular biology and cell culture. Additionally, experience in conducting quantitative real-time PCR and quantitative ChIP experiments will be of significant advantage. A background in p53 research would be most desirable.
