As part of a major expansion in the research activity at the University of Huddersfield has announced the availability of 125 fee-waiver scholarships for adoption in 2008-2009, an additional amount of 125 to be made available in the next year. Our laboratory has recently described a novel pathway whereby α-synuclein, a protein linked to Parkinson’s disease, can cause the hyperphosphorylation of Tau [p-Tau], a protein linked to Alzheimer’s disease, thereby implicating p-Tau in the genesis of PD and α-Syn in the genesis of AD.
