Asian Development Bank-Japan Scholarship Program
Funded by the Government of Japan
Qualified citizens of developing member countries of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), who intend to persue postgraduate studies in economics, management, science and technology, and other development-related fields are invented to apply for scholarships under the Asian Development Bank-Japan Scholarship Program. Upon successful completion of the graduate program, the scholars are expected to return to their countries and contribute to its socioeconomic development. Scholar-ships are awarded for graduate studies at designated institutions in courses of study approved by ADB. (Closing Date: 7 September 2007) Two hundred and seventy scholarships are expected to be awarded in 2008 for commencement in 2008/2009. Candidates must undertake study in one of the four areas of development priority. ADS are offered in three categories: ‘Public’ sector, ‘Open’ and ‘Targeted’. The Endeavour Australia Cheung Kong Research Fellowships provide financial support for postgraduate students and postdoctoral fellows from participating Asian countries to undertake short-term research (4-6 months), in any field of study, in Australia and postgraduate students and postdoctoral fellows from Australia to undertake short-term research in participating Asian countries.
Scholarship from Australia, University of Melbourne. This scholarship is offered until 2008. This scholarship is open to students entering the Bachelor of Commerce Honours Program and specialising in Accounting and Information Systems. Selection is on the basis of academic merit; the applicant’s demonstrated interest in the discipline of accounting and information systems; and interpersonal skills. A unique opportunity exists in East Tennessee for an exceptionally gifted young experimental condensed matter scientist. This is a result of world-class capabilities in surface characterization and materials synthesis. The successful applicant will have access to ARPES (Scienta R4000), variable temperature STM (home build), newly developed LEED IV codes and cameras, high-resolution, momentum-resolved inelastic electron scattering, and close collaboration with scientists in the NanoPhysics group at the Center for Nanophase Material Sciences (CNMS) at ORNL. MQRES Modelling Climate Change Impacts on Australian Forests
Australian forests provide a range of important ecosystem services, such as wood production, carbon sequestration and protection of water catchments. Climate change is highly likely to modify how forests function, and land managers urgently need information about how these ecosystem services will be affected. To address this need, this project will develop ecophysiologically-based models of climate change impacts on Australian forests over the next century. Data assimilation techniques will be used to incorporate information from state-of-the-art climate change experiments, both local and international. Strong collaboration with experimental scientists will be encouraged.
The scholarships are open to Australian, New Zealand, and International students. Selection is on the basis of academic performance, work experience, completion of the Certificate II in Hospitality, and personal qualities. The AIHS awards scholarships partial tuition fee scholarships, valued at up to A$10,000.
Scholarships are currently on offer for intakes in 2007 (February, April, July and September): there are no specific deadlines, however students must apply at the time of application.
International Centre of Excellent in Water Resources Management (ICE WaRM) is offering international candidates the opportunity to further their education in the field of water resources management, in Australia. Full or part tuition scholarships to undertake full-time postgraduate studies in a Master of Water Resources Management programme are available for the July 2007 intake. This scholarship programme offers to attract high quality international students to education and training in water resources management, delivered by ICE WaRM partner institutions.
