Postdoctoral Position in Organic Surface Chemistry Aarhus University, Denmark

Postdoctoral Position in Organic Surface Chemistry
Aarhus University

Applications are invited for a three-year postdoctoral position at the Department of Chemistry/Interdisciplinary Nanoscience Center (iNANO) at the University of Aarhus, Denmark.

The project will focus on fundamental aspects of organic surface chemistry (http://www.chem.au.dk/~overfladekemi). In our research work we do not only develop new tools and methodologies for creating and building molecular structures on surfaces, but we also aim of developing systems which may find useful applications as coatings, sensors or catalytic systems. The attachment of organic molecules to the surfaces is usually carried out through covalent bonds to ensure an extraordinarily high stability of the modified layer.

We offer an exciting interdisciplinary environment with many international collaborators and the possibility to help shape a project at the forefront of science and technology. ?Potential candidates should have experience and expertise in at least one of the following areas:

– Electrochemical surface modifications.
– Photo-polymerization and/or plasma polymerization.
– Surface analysis techniques (AFM, XPS, SIMS, ellipsometry, QCM and SEM).

Furthermore, applicants are expected to:
– Have strong cooperation and communication skills.
– Have good command of the English language, both spoken and written.
– Be independent and capable of assisting younger students in their research projects.

The city of Århus is the second largest in Denmark located on the eastern coast of the peninsula of Jutland. Århus offers a rich cultural life with its many international students and cultural events. It is easily accessible from major European cities either by train or plane.
