The Shariah Scholarship Award is part of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bnm.gov.my\/index.php?ch=200&amp;pg=618\">Fund for Shariah Scholars in Islamic Finance<\/a>, which was established to enhance knowledge, research, talents, and intellectual discourse in the field of Shariah. The Fund represents Bank Negara Malaysia&#8217;s commitment to strengthen the development of the Islamic financial industry. [See also: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bnm.gov.my\/index.php?ch=200&amp;pg=618&amp;ac=528\" target=\"_blank\">Shariah Research Grant<\/a>]<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->The Scholarship is aimed at enlarging the pool of Shariah scholars who are well-equipped with the necessary knowledge and competencies in both Shariah and Islamic finance.<\/p>\n<p>The Scholarship is available to qualified candidates pursuing the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Post-graduate (Masters or Doctorate) study at recognised institutions of<br \/>\nhigher learning in the field of Shariah, specializing in fiqh muamalat;<br \/>\n<strong>OR<\/strong><\/li>\n<li> Certified Islamic Finance Professional (CIFP) programme conducted by the International Centre for Education is Islamic Finance (INCEIF). [<a href=\"http:\/\/www.inceif.org\" onclick=\"javascript:urchinTracker ('\/hyperlinks\/inceif.org'); \" target=\"inceif\">More information about CIFP at INCEIF.org<\/a>]<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"#eligibility\"><br \/>\nEligibility<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"#awardpackage\">Award Package<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"#process\">Application Process &amp; Deadlines<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"#contact\">Contact Information<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a title=\"eligibility\" name=\"eligibility\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Eligibility<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>The Scholarship is open to citizens of all countries.<\/li>\n<li>Applicants are required to have a bachelor&#8217;s degree in Shariah studies<br \/>\nfrom a recognised institution of higher learning, achieving at least a Second<br \/>\nClass Upper or its equivalent. <\/p>\n<dl>\n<dd>For the CIFP Scholarship, a special consideration will be accorded<br \/>\nto those with a diploma (or its equivalent) in Shariah studies, but<br \/>\nthey must have at least 5 years working experience in the financial<br \/>\nindustry. <\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<\/li>\n<li>Applicants are also expected to have secured admission to <strong>EITHER<\/strong><br \/>\na Masters or Doctorate programme in Shariah, specializing in fiqh<br \/>\nmuamalat, at a recognised institution of higher learning, in a full-time<br \/>\nprogramme, <strong>OR<\/strong> the CIFP programme conducted by INCEIF.<\/li>\n<li>Current students enrolling in the specified programmes at recognised institutions<br \/>\nof higher learning may also apply for the scholarship.<\/li>\n<li>Applicants should not be in receipt of any other scholarship awards.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a title=\"awardpackage\" name=\"awardpackage\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Award Package<\/h2>\n<p><u><strong>Post-Graduate Scholarship<\/strong><\/u><\/p>\n<p>The Post-Graduate Scholarship will cover the approved tuition and examination fees, and the recipient will be provided a quarterly subsistence allowance.<\/p>\n<p>Where and when applicable, other allowances such as for books and equipment, approved return air fare, warm clothing, relocation, end of study and thesis\/dissertation completion, will also be provided.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>CIFP Scholarship <\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The CIFP Scholarship will cover the registration and approved examination fees. In addition, the recipient will also be paid a study allowance.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Special Note: <\/em><\/strong> There is no employment bond attached to either<br \/>\nscholarships.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"process\" name=\"process\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Application Process &amp; Deadlines<\/h2>\n<p>Application for the scholarship must be submitted with the following documents<br \/>\nwhich must be in English:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bnm.gov.my\/files\/doc\/bnmssa.appform.doc\" target=\"_blank\">Application<br \/>\nForm<\/a> [Word, 208K].<\/li>\n<li>Certified copies of academic certificates and transcripts (with English<br \/>\ntranslation if the original copy is not in English)<\/li>\n<li>Letter of Offer from the institution of higher learning or INCEIF<\/li>\n<li>Photocopy of personal identification document (passport \/ birth certificate<br \/>\n\/ identity card)<\/li>\n<li>An essay of not more than 300 words on why you should be awarded the scholarship<br \/>\nand how you plan to contribute to the Islamic financial services industry.<\/li>\n<li>Two (2) letters of recommendation written by individuals under whom you<br \/>\nhave studied or worked, and who are able to comment on your qualifications<br \/>\nfor the award <strong>(only for post-graduate scholarship application)<\/strong>.
