The Institut of Photonic Sciences (ICFO) is a center based in
\nCastelldefels (Barcelona) \/ Spain, devoted to the research and
\neducation of the optical and photonic sciences, at the highest
\ninternational level.<\/p>\n
ICFO, in collaboration with the Polytechnic University of Catalonia
\n(UPC), is offering predoctoral fellowships to well-qualified graduate
\nstudents who wish to obtain a doctoral degree in any of the
\nphotonics-related research fields. Ph.D. students at ICFO benefit
\nfrom the extensive course offerings of local universities and focused
\ninstruction by ICFO professors. Research is carried out at ICFO.
\nThe ICFO-UPC PhD Fellowship Program welcomes applications from
\nindividuals with backgrounds in any scientific disciplines related to

\nCandidates must hold an internationally-recognized Bachelor or Master-
\nequivalent degree of a minimum of officially 4 years studying period.
\nThe degree must be in a field of science and engineering related to
\noptics and photonics. Suitable backgrounds include optics, physics,
\nmathematics, electronics and telecommunications engineering.<\/p>\n
\ntotal of four years. The renovation of the fellowship is conditional
\non satisfactory performance in research and teaching activities.<\/p>\n

\nselected for the second evaluation stage, the interested group
\nleaders of ICFO will contact personally with that candidate in order
