There are 16 scholarships available, starting in October 2008.<!--more--><strong>Graduate Teaching Assistantships<\/strong> offer students the opportunity to study for a PhD while undertaking teaching duties in areas usually related to their PhD research.<\/p>\n<p>Successful candidates will work under the direction of an academic staff member on a range of teaching activities, up to 180 hours over the academic year (based on an average of six hours each week).<\/p>\n<p>The scholarships are worth \u00c2\u00a312,940 per year (2008-9 levels) over three years and are available to international students.<\/p>\n<p><strong>PhD research proposals are sought in the following area<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<p>Research Institute for the Built &amp; Human Environment<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Transport and Planning<\/li>\n<li>Sustainable Transport and Mobility<\/li>\n<li>Video and Broadcasting<\/li>\n<li>Materials and Structural Engineering<\/li>\n<li>Aerospace Engineering<\/li>\n<li>Construction Technology<\/li>\n<li>Computer Aided Design<\/li>\n<li>Building Services<\/li>\n<li>Construction Management<\/li>\n<li>Building Surveying<\/li>\n<li>Urban Ecology<\/li>\n<li>Green Infrastructure<\/li>\n<li>Hydrology and Ecology of Glacier-Fed Streams<\/li>\n<li>Climate Change, Glacier Mass Balance and River Flows in the Alps Since the Little Ice Age Maximum<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Eligibility: International and Home\/EU students<br \/>\nContact: Dr Vian Ahmed<br \/>\n<em>v.ahmed@salford.ac.uk<\/em><br \/>\nT +44 (0)161 295 6397<\/p>\n<p>Take note: The closing date for applications is <strong>8 February 2008<\/strong>.\u00c2\u00a0  For details of how to apply, please visit: <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pg.salford.ac.uk\/gta\" target=\"_blank\">http:\/\/www.pg.salford.ac.uk\/gta<\/a>. <\/em>To find out more about research at the University of Salford, please visit: http:\/\/www.rgc.salford.ac.uk\/<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>There are 16 scholarships available, starting in October 2008 for candidates wishing to study for a PhD.
