A PhD position is available at the Department of Physiology, University of Saarland, in the group of Prof. Dr. Trese Leinders-Zufall, in the project:<\/p>\n

“Neuronal mechanisms of pheromone sensing<\/strong>“.<\/p>\n

The project is funded within the DFG priority program 1392 “Integrative Analysis of Olfaction”. The research program combines neuroanatomy, immunocytochemistry, physiological analyses with confocal imaging, electrophysiology and behavior tests to understand the cellular and molecular mechanisms of neuro-endocrine cells that influence the control of oestrus and underlie the encoding of chemosensory signals.<\/p>\n

The project is in close collaboration with Dr. Ulrich Boehm\u2019s lab at the Center of Molecular Neurobiology (ZMNH), Hamburg, and PhD students in both labs are expected to closely interact. The PhD student based in Homburg will have her\/his main focus on physiological properties of fluorescently marked neuro-endocrine cells in hypothalamic slices. Previous experience in electrophysiological or calcium imaging techniques are an advantage.
\nWe offer a creative working environment within a very successful group. Homburg is a lovely town in southwest Germany’s wine country near the German-French border, with fast connections to both Frankfurt and Paris.<\/p>\n
