SOAS, University of London (The School of Oriental and African Studies) is the only Higher Education institution in Europe specialising in the study of Asia, Africa and the Near and Middle East.

SOAS offers a wide-range of scholarships, bursaries and awards to support students undertaking our degree programmes. A number of scholarships are also provided by the University of London, the British government and other external organisations.

The scholarships and other awards listed below are distributed through a competitive application process with respect to financial need and/or academic merit. List of Scholarships and Bursaries at SOAS for International Students:

Undergraduate Programmes

Undergraduate Research Awards
Deadline: 26 April 2013
Each year, six awards valued at £500 each will be made available to support full time undergraduates with the costs of an Independent Study Project (ISP).

Taught Masters Programmes

The Canon Collins Scholarships
There are two scholarships available in 2013-14 for study at SOAS. These scholarships are for Masters study in any subject field.

Santander Taught Master’s Scholarships

Standard Chartered Scholarships (for a range of full-time Taught Masters programmes. The programmes relate to Asia, Africa, and the Middle East/NorthAfrica)

SOAS Master’s Scholarships – Faculty of Arts & Humanities – (for any full-time taught masters programme in the Faculty of Arts & Humanities)

William Ross Murray Scholarship (LLM, for students from a developing country)

MPhil/PhD Programmes

Award for Fieldwork (for students currently enrolled in an Mphil/PhD at SOAS)

Bloomsbury Colleges PhD Studentships – The Bloomsbury Colleges is a consortium of six University of London colleges. Applications are invited annually for two PhD studentships, each of 3 year’s duration, where SOAS is the lead college.

Kayoko Tsuda Bursary for PhD students in need of the bursary to fund the completion of their thesis

Nohoudh PhD Scholarships (For research on ‘The integration of Muslims in British Society’)
