Social Anthropology
An advanced course at diploma or MA level, intended for students who have already studied anthropology as a degree course or a major part of a degree course at undergraduate level.
Ethnicity, Nationalism and Identity
This course, at diploma or MA level, explores the decisive influences on contemporary society of the explosion of conflict between groups calling themselves nations and the contestation of collective identities.
Ethnobotany
An interdisciplinary MSc programme combinng anthropological studies of human-environment interaction and of socio-cultural knowledge of plants with ecology, conservation, sustainable biodiversity management practices, taxonomy, and economic botany.
Environmental Anthropology
Advanced study of environmental anthropology, for either diploma, MA or MSc. The approach is interdisciplinary, with a special emphasis on anthropological methods and on understanding biological knowledge in its social and cultural context.
Visual Anthropology
This MA course explores both traditional and experimental means of using visual images to produce and represent anthropological knowledge, embracing linked courses in contemporary anthropological theory and empirical research methods.
Anthropology and Computing
The aim of this programme is to develop appropriate a research perspective in social anthropology – the design, planning, implementation and analysis of anthropological research – and apply specialised computing methods to anthropological research and analysis.
